Grab a beverage, any beverage, and get comfortable because MODA is bringing design to you!
On October 27, we’ll be speaking with Joel Krieger, Chief Creative Officer of Second Story, a design studio focused on the emerging category of responsive environments.
The conversation will be moderated by Aileen Farshi
Atlanta’s most creative people (and some from beyond the 404) will invite you (virtually) into their home, studio, or maker space. They’ll tell you about their work, their career trajectory, and what they’re thinking about now as our world takes a new form.
Drink in Design is held on Zoom, so you’ll be able to interact and engage with each designer personally. Just register and the meeting link will be delivered straight to your inbox.
Joel Krieger is Chief Creative Officer of Second Story, a design studio focused on the emerging category of responsive environments. Working across both cultural and brand landscapes—they seek to create new kinds of places that defy labels. By immersing audiences in a participatory, multi-sensory experience, his work aims to elicit emotion and spark meaningful action.
As head of Second Story, Joel leads the design practice across studios in Portland, Atlanta, and New York. His work explores “new methods of making” that merge the fields of experience design, visual effects and programming with industrial design and architecture. Endlessly fascinated by what can be accomplished through collaboration—his practice orchestrates deliberate collisions between radically different ideas and people. Joel has led interdisciplinary teams in international work across Europe, Australia, the U.S. and Canada.
Prior to his current role, Joel co-founded Second Story’s first expansion studio in Atlanta. Joel also previously served as Creative Director within SapientNitro’s Mobile & Emerging Experiences group, and as Executive Creative Director at IQ Agency.
His work has been recognized for design excellence by the likes of One Show, The Webby Awards, HOW International Design, SEGD Global Design Awards, IxDA, The American Alliance of Museums, and was named top 20 people to watch in 2020 by Graphic Design USA. His work has been featured by premier publications including Fast Company, Wired, Forbes, and Adweek. He is a regular speaker on experience design at forums like Experiential Marketing Summit, Museum Next, SEGD, and AIGA. Joel also serves on the advisory board of The Ocean Experience Project, an immersive entertainment attraction for ocean conservation.
