MODA: Architecture Lecture: Débora Mesa of Ensamble Studio

$15In partnership with the School of Architecture at Georgia Tech, MODA is excited to host an architecture lecture with Débora Mesa of Ensamble Studio this September 11th. Mesa, an internationally renowned architect dually based in Madrid and Boston, will be here discussing how her work explores innovative approaches to architectural and urban spaces, and how a scientific understanding of architecture allows for the creative freedom to build on past innovations, mix imagination with reality, and improve our quality of life.
This lecture will take place at the Rich Theater, located directly across the street from MODA on the Woodruff Arts Center campus.

About Débora Mesa
Débora Mesa, a European Licensed Architect with a studio in both Madrid and Boston, has been with Ensamble Studio since 2003. She and the studio have become internationally renowned for their boundary-breaking visions of architecture and what it can do for the world. Mesa has served as a visiting professor for the Pratt Institute, The Cooper Union, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she also served as a research scientist after she co-founded the Prototypes of Prefabrication Research Laboratory (POPlab) in 2012. She currently serves as the Thomas W. Ventulett III Distinguished Chair in Architectural Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Ensamble Studio is a cross-functional team led by architects Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa. Ensamble balances education, research, and practice to transcend conventions and find the logic in architecture. Among the works for which the studio is best known are the Hemeroscopium House and Reader’s House in Madrid and the Cyclopean House in Brookline. Their work is widely published, printed, and exhibited worldwide, and they have received international acclaim and awards, most recently the 2017 Architizer A+Award and the 2016 NCSEA Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards.
