Ladies that UX Atlanta: Bad UX Roast (or UX Angst Support Group)

June 16, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

O.M.G., Spotify, we love you, but what are you thinking with your navigation? Fitbit, you are great, but is this really your idea of a good user experience? And Apple. Don’t EVEN get us started. Or, actually, let’s do get started on Apple.

It’s 2016, and it feels like large, well-funded companies should at least have the basics of good UX locked down by now. But for some reason, we are STILL surrounded by pretty abysmal UX design. Us UX designers are constantly confronted with problems that we know how to fix…but often do not have the power or bandwidth to do so. Bad UX is frustrating for everyone, but it’s particularly infuriating for people like us.

Let’s meet up and talk about:

1) The tools we have love/hate relationships with. What’s so wrong with them and what would we do to fix them?

2) Why do we think fundamentally bad UX is still an issue, even for well-funded, internet-based companies with loads of designers? What goes wrong?

3) How do we stay sane? Anyone have some good zen-like coping strategies for being a UX designer surrounded by problems we know how to fix, but can’t?
