The vast majority of our freelancing transactions will probably go smoothly, with you and your client agreeing on terms, you doing the work, and your client paying in a timely manner. But “vast majority” is not “all,” and if you freelance for any length of time, you will eventually run into a problem of one sort or another.
That’s why, from time to time, creative professionals need help from the experts who understand our challenges and have the expertise to resolve them.
At our July 9 meeting (note the special date), attorney/arbitrator Marty Lavine and attorney Jon Lee Andersen discuss contracts, dispute resolution, arbitration, avoiding miscommunication and other common problems, dealing with late-paying clients and much more. This is a great opportunity to address dispute-related questions, contractual concerns, negotiations and any other professional challenges and legal issues. Can you ever hear this advice too often?
We don’t think so!
Our expert panelists:
About Marty Lavine
A former software engineer and practicing attorney, Marty left those careers behind in 2002 to concentrate on a new passion: alternative dispute resolution. While working as an online mediator for SquareTrade, eBay’s dispute resolution arm at that time, Marty recognized a need to resolve simple, everyday disputes arising from e-commerce transactions when cost, distance and other issues prevented traditional courthouse litigation.
In 2005, Marty launched online arbitration firm net-ARB.com to fill the void. Over the past ten years, net-ARB has provided binding arbitration solutions for parties on six continents, resolving more than 1,000 cases with total claims in excess of
$5 million.
