Creative Mornings ATL: Why Books and Book Festivals Matter with the AJC Decatur Book Festival Presented by Emory University

September 13, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

One of the most significant independent book festivals in the country is headquartered in our hometown! The Decatur Book Festival’s mission is to bring world-class authors and book lovers together to encourage a love of reading, inquiry, and conversation in people of all ages, and build an enthusiastic and inclusive community of readers and writers throughout the south, sparking social, creative, and intellectual engagement. This year’s festival takes place on October 2nd.

Join us for a conversation with Daren Wang and Rosemary M. Magee to preview this year’s lineup and learn about the pivot the Festival took along with many arts organizations. Find out what inspired the festival’s start and what’s coming up soon.

Daren is the founder and former Executive Director of the DBF. He had a 20-year career as a public radio producer and journalist. He is also the author of the novel, The Hidden Light of Northern Fires. Rosemary M. Magee is currently the chair of the planning committee for the 2021 Festival and a former member of the Board. She is Director Emerita of Emory’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library.
