Maya Dukes | Managing Director, Creative – Delta Air Lines

Maya is an accomplished leader who has been a cornerstone of the creative strategies of numerous multi-billion-dollar companies, including Macy’s, The Home Depot, and, most recently, Delta Air Lines. With a sharp focus on empathic storytelling and an eye for building diverse, industry-leading teams, Maya led the expansion of Delta’s in-house agency Window Seat, mid-pandemic, transforming a 15-person creative services group into a thriving, 60+ in-house agency, as Delta’s first Creative Director of color. Believing that diverse talent is only hard to find when your eyes are closed, she recruited top creative leadership and talent from all walks of life and industries to develop work that reflects the world around us. Window Seat’s value has become visible to Delta’s 90,000 employees and 200 million passengers in more than 60 countries and is now indispensable in our mission to better connect the world. Maya built a dedicated Employee Communications creative pillar and has guided the creative vision of new partnership campaigns, including Olympics & Team USA, Starbucks, Spotify, Peloton, and more, increasing the team’s YOY output by 300%. Maya also teaches an undergraduate marketing course centered around creative disruption at Georgia State University. In addition, she is a KPMG Future Leaders Mentor to first-year college students, has developed creative for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, is an alum of Giving Tuesday’s Starling Collective, and served as a board member for ARTportunity Knocks – a nonprofit organization focused on empowering African American youth in the arts.

 

Christine Needles | Sr. Director, Communications & PR – Interface

Christine Needles oversees communications and thought leadership strategy for Interface, a global leader in commercial flooring whose mission is to be the most sustainable company in the world. She is a passionate team builder, leading an international team that drives engagement with internal and external stakeholders through compelling communications initiatives that build and protect Interface’s brand, purpose, and values. For more than 20 years, Christine has successfully built high-performing teams in leadership roles with global public companies and PR agencies. Before joining Interface in 2016, she was a Corporate Practice VP at Edelman, overseeing a portfolio of B2B clients spanning multiple industries. She also held several global communications roles over six years at CA Technologies, a global Fortune 500 enterprise software company. Christine got her start in the agency world at firms including Porter Novelli and Citigate Cunningham, where she worked with a range of clients to amplify their brands through PR and thought leadership. Christine earned an M.B.A. from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and a B.S. in Communication from Boston University. She lives in Atlanta, GA with her entrepreneurial husband and 10-year-old son. In her spare time, you can find her on the ski slopes, keeping up her Peloton workout streak, or relaxing with her family.

 

Sherri Daye Scott | EVP, Audience Development & Engagement – WABE

Sherri Daye Scott is a storyteller and creative strategist based in Southwest Atlanta by way of Raleigh, Dallas, West Texas, Northern California, Madrid and Myrtle Beach (where she was born the second daughter of a career Air Force man). She currently serves as EVP Audience Development and Engagement for WABE, Atlanta’s NPR and PBS public media station. Most recently, she led the 2022 rebrand of the station across digital, radio, television and OOH; launched WABE’s nationwide series Love & Respect with Killer Mike; and concepted and produced the WABE MixTape Block Party, an annual summer concert in partnership with NPR Tiny Desk. From childhood, Sherri has loved both telling and hearing a good story, which is how she ended up in the world of marketing and communications, beginning with a stint as an associate editor at D Magazine after graduating from SMU. Today, she acts as a marketing strategy and messaging consultant to varied brands such as Accenture, The Mom Project, AT&T, Southern Company and Club Car, while also producing digital content for Emory University, the National Museum of African American Music, AB+L Radio and writing for publications such as The Washington Post, Women’s Health and UU World. Before 2020, her proudest professional moment was producing WALTER, the first pop-up agency at South by Southwest Interactive, as marketing services director at JWT. Now it’s the work she’s done with Big Facts, Small Acts, the arts-led, grassroots, COVID-awareness and -prevention campaign she started in Spring 2020 with local artists friends to lessen the disease’s impact on Atlanta’s vulnerable black and brown communities. On the personal front, her harp-playing, amphibian–loving, long-limbed son is at the top of her gratitude list, followed by her diverse tribe of friends. Come by her annual Father’s Day fish fry one year. You’ll see what we mean.

 

Michael Hawthorne Jr. | Co-Founder – Klean Energy Kulture

Michael Hawthorne Jr. is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Klean Energy Kulture, a not-for-profit production company that is accelerating the Clean Energy transition in Black Communities through Music and Cultural Campaigns. Over the last decade, Michael has led pivotal campaigns that successfully generated awareness and engagement in Communities of Color resulting in substantial participation in Climate Change Advocacy. Through Michael’s leadership experiences as the Georgia Deputy Field Director for Barack Obama’s first Presidential Campaign to Vice President Al Gore’s Repower America Campaign, Greenpeace, and the Beyond Coal Campaign with the Sierra Club, Michael has garnered the respect and trust of High-Ranking Elected Officials, Partners at Climate Focused Venture Funds, and Community Stakeholders at all levels. Michael has served as an EPA Stakeholder in the Southeast and has been invited to speak at many organizations. He has served on several Boards. Michael covers a deep expertise in engaging on Climate Change and Culture, Energy Justice, Clean Energy Transition, Regulatory Processes and Clean Energy Transition in Black Communities. Michael has the ability to connect to the hearts and minds of his audience, leaving each attendee inspired to make positive impact In their day to day lives. Michael hails from Greenville, South Carolina and is a proud HBCU graduate of South Carolina State University where he met his wife. Currently they have two daughters and reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Corey Dennard | Co-Founder – Klean Energy Kulture

He has constructed club-cracking anthems for City Girls, Usher, Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Erica Banks, Nicki Minaj, Yo Gotti, and Young Dolph. His music became radio mainstays with two breezy, laidback singles–“California” performed by Colonel Loud featuring Young Dolph, Rico Barrino and T.I. and the RIAA Gold Certified Smash “On the Way” featuring DJ Luke Nasty. The most recent hit “Living My Best Life” by Lil Duval ft. Snoop Dogg and Ball Greezy. Which was also RIAA Gold Certified and #1 Billboard on Urban Radio For 6 Weeks, RnB Charts for 12 weeks and #4 Rhythmic radio. As of lately Mr. Hanky has produced “Love Is” by Queen Naija and the viral hit “Twerkulator” by the City Girls which is doing incredibly well despite not being on any platforms. Early in his career while signed to Collipark Music, his production prowess helped jumpstart the careers of Soulja Boy and V.I.C., as well as provided savage soundtracks for Ying Yang Twins. From laying down unpredictable production for Atlanta’s newest superstars-in-the-making DaeDae and YFN Lucci, to Wale, Travis Porter and K Camp, to veteran rappers Fabolous and Plies, multi-faceted hip hop/R&B/ EDM beat technician Mr. Hanky is the most accomplished music producer that you may have never heard of.With a musical flair that bounces between riveting dance tracks, mid-tempo melodic grooves and throbbing R&B and Top 40 ballads, Mr. Hanky cannot be contained to one particular genre or style. And over the last few years, he has been quietly overhauling the soundscape of urban music.

 

Jo Ann Herold (Moderator) | CEO & Founder – Herold Growth Consulting

Jo Ann Herold is a c-suite, omni channel executive with expertise in leading organizations to innovate, modernize, and grow. As a CMO, she reported to the CEO and worked closely with the Board of Directors for private-equity, publicly traded and family-owned firms. For board service, Jo Ann brings global marketing leadership, digital expertise, strong brand management, and e-commerce P&L experience. Her expertise has earned her a reputation of delivering record breaking financial results. Jo Ann is now the chief executive officer of Herold Growth Consulting serving multiple clients across industry sectors in B2C and B2B. During Jo Ann’s tenure as Chief Marketing Officer for The Honey Baked Ham Company, the brand experienced 20 months of sales and EBDITA increase through product development and brand development which led to sustained and continued growth. Jo Ann innovated the omni experience by launching BOPIS (buy online pickup in store), and enhanced web and digital marketing resulting in 32% of all transactions generating from a digital platform. She also identified the next generation customer. As the Global CMO for Interface, Inc. she created Interface’s first truly global brand team, delivering product and brand strategies resulting in 5 consecutive quarters of growth and the highest stock price in Interface’s history. A team and culture catalyst, she also played a significant role in Interface’s bold global sustainability movement, Climate Take Back ™. Jo Ann’s work has been lauded, including the National Diversity Council’s Most Powerful and Influential Women and two Effie’s for marketing effectiveness. She recently received a Lifetime Achievement award from the American Marketing Association (AMA) and is the 2023 recipient of the AMA’s Marketer for Good. As the practitioner lead for Georgia State University’s prestigious CMO Roundtable, Jo Ann leverages her network as the Past President of the CMO Club and AMA Atlanta to bring in CMOs, thought leaders and funding. She serves on the executive board of Covenant House and teaches the Executive MBA Global Strategic Marketing course at Georgia State University. As previous board chair of the Atlanta Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, she led the nominating committee. Jo Ann is a published author and a sought-after speaker on utilizing marketing as a strategy to create growth. Jo Ann has an MBA in International Business from Mercer University and an undergraduate degree in Communication from Mississippi State University. She resides in Atlanta with her husband and daughter.
