In the era of “Big Brother” marketing, data collection has great scrutiny when it comes to its usage and customer privacy. Even with laws and regulations in place, marketers must ensure the data collection is not only within legal guidelines, but also used in ways that show trustworthiness and true value to consumers. In our AJC Digital Series, Finding the Middle Ground of Data: Balancing Consumer and Marketer Expectations, we will explore the philosophies of “helpful” and “deceptive” ways to collect data, the challenges brands and marketers face with data collection, and the most useful and tactful ways to use consumer data to benefit both marketers and consumers.
