AIGA ATL: Ellen Weinstein: Telling Stories with Images, Infinity and Luck

For the past twenty years, Ellen Weinstein has produced compelling images for a wide range of clients including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Mastercard, Humana Festival, and Random House.

Recently she has expanded her practice of visual storytelling to writing and illustrating books for children and adults. Ellen illustrated the children’s book, Yayoi Kusama: From Here to Infinity published by the Museum of Modern Art and wrote and illustrated, Recipes for Good Luck published by Chronicle Books.

Ellen will offer her insights on image making, publishing and shifting course mid-career.

About Ellen:

Ellen Weinstein was born and raised in New York City. She is a graduate of Pratt Institute and New York’s High School of Art and Design. Awards include American Illustration, Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Illustration Annual, Print’s Regional Design Annual, Society of Publication Designers, Society of News Designers and the Global Art Directors Club.

She has judged numerous illustration competitions including Communication Arts Illustration Annual 2016, 2016 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, AOI/World Illustration Awards, Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition, Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship and Society of Illustrators Zankel Scholarship. She’s featured in an eight-page article in the March/April 2013 issue of Communication Arts. Ellen’s work is also featured in Illustration Now 5! by Taschen.

Ellen illustrated the children’s book, “Yayoi Kusama: From Here to Infinity” published by the Museum of Modern Art, October 2017. She is hosting a full day of family fun Infinity Mirrors related programming at the High Museum of Art on January 12th.

The Woodruff can be easily accessed by public transportation at the Arts Center MARTA station (N5), across Arts Center Way from The Woodruff.

Some street parking is available, and paid parking is available at the Woodruff Arts Center for $16 in the parking garage located on Arts Center Way.

Lyft is the official rideshare partner of The Woodruff Arts Center. When heading to The Woodruff, ask your driver to follow in-app navigation directions to the drop-off areas on Callaway Plaza at the corner of Peachtree Street and 15th or on Arts Center Way.
